Characters here have daemons, which are physical embodiments of their souls. If you have read Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" series, you'll be familiar with this term. This roleplay is set in a world somewhat like Lyra's in this sense. There are some rules to go with this idea, though, so please follow them.
1. All characters MUST have a daemon, otherwise they're soulless zombies xP.
2. Daemons must take realistic animal form--no human daemons, or daemons that take mystical creature form.
3. As far as realistic animals go, I won't really limit you. But keep in mind that it gets kind of hard to take a horse or tiger with you everywhere you go. Also, not everyone can have cheetahs and wolves and such for their daemons--your daemon's form is not decided by how 'cool' it looks, but how well its form matches your character's personality.
4. Daemons can speak, but also have mental and emotional ties to their human counterpart. They feel what their human feels. Your daemon's personality and opinion might not always match your own, but being two parts of one being, character and daemon will usually support each other.
5. Daemons cannot stray too far from their human counterpart's side. If this happens, both human and daemon will experience great physical and emotional distress, and this could ultimately be fatal.
6. It is unthinkable to touch another person's daemon. It'd be like raping someone. Pullman's book states that even in battle, a soldier would not lay a hand on their enemy's daemon. When it comes to fighting, daemons will usually attack each other, or else not participate in the fight at all.
7. All characters fifeteen or under may have unsettled daemons, which means that their daemons may change shape according to their own emotions. Once a character grows older, however, their daemon settles on one animal form forever--one that truly expresses them.
8. A daemon must be the opposite gender of your character.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
