Ability:Mind power! No, she isn't a genius- she can use her mind to reach out for objects... or other minds. So far, she can only use very limited telepathy, and only with people she's known a while, and all she can move with her mind is, perhaps, a feather. Intentionally, anyway. When she loses her temper and lashes out at someone, this... force, for lack of a better word, does too. Not just like blast of energy, but also against people's minds. Worst case scenario, she'll send someone flying and/or knock them unconscious- neither of which she can do deliberately yet. So the ability is there, she just can't control it much. With time and practice, she should be able to move all sorts of things with her mind- perhaps even something like teleporting them.

Characteristics: Kali acts, a lot of the time, like an immature, irrational kid. Curious and imaginative by nature, she likes both hearing/reading (so it's a good thing she's best friends with someone who likes writing) and making up stories, the latter of which are rarely plausible but often entertaining. She often appears a bit dense, sometimes naive, and is surprisingly innocent for a teenager- adults baffle her. But I say 'act' for a reason. The innocence is genuine enough, but Kali's not as clueless as she appears at first.
Kali lives in a fantasy world- her imagination has no bounds and she's had a multitude of imaginary companions throughout her life. Such an open mind and love of new things make it easy for her to accept new ideas and question commonly held beliefs. She doesn't go along with the general crowd just because 'everyone' does/thinks this or that- she thinks for herself and sticks to her beliefs. Stubborn as a rock, Kali can't be bossed around. She's more likely to comply if asked, so giving orders doesn't work with her. The less stern you are, the better you'll handle her.
Being a daydreamer doesn't make her an airhead. She is fully capable of focusing when she wants to, and is a more intelligent girl than she seems. Kali can think quickly and clearly and might panic once in a blue moon, so she's a good person to have on a crisis. Provided she likes you. She uses her heart more than her head, which can be both admirable and infuriating. When faced with a major decision, she'll think about it, then say 'screw this' and do what she feels is the right thing to do- or what she wants to do, which may not be the best or wisest decision. But this is a girl who does as she likes, and to heck with the consequences. No, she isn't much for rules, not if she thinks they're stupid or unfair. People's opinion's don't bother her either, unless those people are important to her.
Fiercely loyal and protective, Kali's life centers around people she cares about- she has few close friends, and most are her cousins. Her best friend in all the world might as well be her brother and means everything to her, though she doesn't get outwardly sentimental about it. Woe to anyone who messes with a friend of hers- Kali isn't the most patient person as it is, and harm to a person she's fond of will not be tolerated. She'll fight anyone or anything to defend them, even if the odds are stacked mountain-high against her. Her sense of justice is powerful, and she detests bullies- don't pick on innocent people in front of Kali; that's just asking for a fight, since she doesn't bother restraining her temper much and isn't shy about stepping into things, whether people like it or not. In fact she's not shy about anything, virtually fearless (reckless is more like it), and literally impossible to intimidate (which can get her into serious trouble sometimes).
As for stuff she likes and doesn't, she doesn't care for handling responsibility and prefers to just hang around. She likes swimming, climbing trees -or anything tall- and exploring- caves fascinate her, as does... water. Not water in a glass, but streams and ponds and the ocean. And rain- good Lord; Kali could stand around and watch a thunderstorm for ages if she was capable of standing still that long. She's likely to just suddenly halt in her tracks and freeze for a few moments, for her attention is easily captured by all things pretty and/or shiny and/or colorful. Kali, for all her liveliness, very much appreciates everyday things like sunsets, the stars, oddly-shaped rocks, the color of some feather she finds on the ground, the shape of the moon... just random things that catch her eye. And it's random things that set her imagination into motion, so she's always got something to think about.

Name: Aesop (Ace)
Form: Unsettled (He likes trying out different forms, but especially likes cat -big and small- and fox forms, and birds.)
Description: Ace is... unpredictable. He can be silly, hot-tempered, easygoing, cold, or surprisingly gentle depending on his mood. He's generally welcoming and casual with strangers, warm toward his friends, either cold or aggressive toward people he dislikes, and often sarcastic with his own human. Something that are always the same, however, are his sense of justice and his curiosity, devotion, intelligence, and protectiveness, traits that prove he's his human's daemon. Ace usually speaks his mind, but when it's important, is tactful rather than blunt- except with Kali, and his own best friend (that is, Kali's friend's daemon). The two treat each other like siblings, and while they have their little arguments, Ace doesn't spend every waking minute quarreling with her; that's just for Kali.
Human and daemon often bicker, mostly for the fun of it, and he enjoys making snide comments when she makes mistakes and telling her 'I told you so'- not that it really bothers her, which he knows, and therefore doesn't worry about upsetting her. They have their warm, close moments, which just pop up out of the blue at random moments, but they're more likely to be firing insults and hollow threats at each other.
His favorite cat form, one he is most often seen in, is a tall, thin cat with a dark gray tabby pelt and dark, clear yellow-green eyes. In this form, he's at least a foot tall at the shoulder and all lean muscle, with claws as sharp as his tongue often is. Not the prettiest cat ever, but tough and quick as lightning. When he's a bird, as with most of his forms, Ace prefers the hunter to the hunted and goes with hawks and falcons, or else very speedy little birds.
But whatever he likes or doesn't, he does change according to Kali's feelings. Normally, something like a wildcat or wolf isn't a problem, but there are moments when he ends up as a puppy or more cuddly kitty- much to his dismay. Cute just isn't his thing, as he will heatedly tell Kali- who laughs and tells him 'tough luck'.

History:
Kali's been a bit unusual right from the start. How many people have parents who are both half-American, half-Pakistani, and often traveled between the two countries, on opposite sides of the world? The girl was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and spent about seven months there before moving -or rather, being moved to- Texas; certain family matters had to be dealt with. When she was four, and her parents had handled said matters, they moved back. Kali, adjusting easily to almost anything, wasn't much bothered by the move. And she got to go to a brand-new school and learn new stuff and see knew things! Kali was one happy little four-year old.
It was years before she discovered her ability, so that isn't why she never fit in at school. It's always been her attitude towards life and the way she acts that has kept her apart. She was never 'part of the group'- the students of this particular school did not welcome someone who questioned all it's norms and values, ignored social laws, and refused to be affected by any criticism. So they left her alone- bullying didn't work, since she fought off anyone who had the nerve to try. So Kali, quite happy to play on her own, never bothered with making friends until the beginning of third grade, when she switched to a new school. Most of the students treated her in much the same way as her old classmates had, so they were easy to ignore- all except the small, quiet little kid who managed to tick off an older student one day. At the age of eight, Kali was a self-dubbed protector of the innocent and, mostly because bullies made her seriously mad and partly because she was bored with routine school life, went to the little guy's rescue. And whaddaya know, she had a new friend.
Well, school and life in general were even more fun when shared with little Jay. Discovering her ability at the age of ten -totally by accident, losing her temper with an annoying classmate and blasting him backwards with the sheer force of her feelings- was twice as exciting as it would have been alone, since she also discovered that day that her friend, too, had an unusual ability. Her parents were alarmed, naturally, but not overly concerned- they knew Kali could take care of herself, and were only mildly reluctant to agree to send her to Stonebrook when she turned old enough. Kali herself was thrilled- a brand-new place to explore, new things to try, and people who would help her learn to control her ability! How could she be anything but happy and excited? Sure, she would miss her parents, and her little brother, but Jay was coming too, so she wouldn't be lonely!
And here she is, eager to learn- and to explore every secret Stonebrook tries to keep from the world! Let's hope Jay can keep her in line.

Other: Caffeine = bad idea. Don't give Kali anything caffeinated any time after sunset or she'll be up all night long, and annoyingly hyper. The same goes for things with a lot of sugar- she'll get pretty darn hyper on you. Ace has his paws/wings full keeping her away from such things, unfortunately- Kali likes sweet stuff. Just... keep her away from caffeine and all will be well. Safe from her, anyway.
